What Is Otaku
In Japan, the term Otaku originally referred to young individuals, often school-age, who devoted themselves to specific aspects of pop culture, like technology or anime.
This usage began in the mid-1980s, and while it initially carried a certain connotation, Otaku has since evolved into something much broader and more positive. Today, being an Otaku means having a deep passion for a particular hobby or interest. This could be anime, but it also extends to cosplay, gaming, technology, J-pop, robotics, and even military history.
If you’re obsessed with something, you’re an Otaku.
